It’s officially summer, so to celebrate I’m giving away a signed copy of Lies and Other Acts of Love by the delightful Kristy Woodson Harvey. This book is the best kind of beach read. Here’s what it’s about:
After sixty years of marriage and five daughters, Lynn “Lovey” White knows that all of us, from time to time, need to use our little white lies.
Her granddaughter, Annabelle, on the other hand, is as truthful as they come. She always does the right thing—that is, until she dumps her hedge fund manager fiancé and marries a musician she has known for three days. After all, her grandparents, who fell in love at first sight, have shared a lifetime of happiness, even through her grandfather’s declining health.
But when Annabelle’s world starts to collapse around her, she discovers that nothing about her picture-perfect family is as it seems. And Lovey has to decide whether one more lie will make or break the ones she loves . . .
Sounds amazing, right? What are you waiting for? Go enter the Rafflecopter giveaway here!
My fellow fangirl, Lily Anderson, has written a delightful YA novel inspired by Much Ado About Nothing. The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You is full of loveable nerdy references and adorable moments between Trixie and Ben, as well as a fun cast of characters that made me want to go binge-watch Firefly for the umpteenth time then follow it up with 10 Things I Hate About You for good measure.
The book released earlier in May and I highly encourage you to go buy it now! But since I now have my very own hardcover copy to fangirl over, I’m giving away the signed ARC that Lily was gracious enough to send me. So go enter my Rafflecopter giveaway!
I was lucky enough to read an ARC of this book by my editor-sister Jessica Love. And man, did I adore it. Music and best friends falling in love and an epic road trip to Vegas. It is such a cute story that made my heart so damn happy. So I’m giving away a copy along with some wonderful swag, including a postcard, a signed bookmark, a signed bookplate, and adorable Hannah and Nick stickers!
First, here’s a summary of the book:
Hannah Cho and Nick Cooper have been best friends since 8th grade. They talk for hours on the phone, regularly shower each other with presents, and know everything there is to know about one another.
There’s just one problem: Hannah and Nick have never actually met.
Hannah has spent her entire life doing what she’s supposed to, but when her senior year spring break plans get ruined by a rule-breaker, she decides to break a rule or two herself. She impulsively decides to road trip to Las Vegas, her older sister and BFF in tow, to surprise Nick and finally declare her more-than-friend feelings for him.
Hannah’s surprise romantic gesture backfires when she gets to Vegas and finds out that Nick has been keeping some major secrets. Hannah knows the real Nick can’t be that different from the online Nick she knows and loves, but now she only has night in Sin City to figure out what her feelings for Nick really are, all while discovering how life can change when you break the rules every now and then.
And now, the giveaway!
In November, I was lucky enough to get to go to the first Wordsmith writing retreat/workshop with Beth Revis and Cristin Terrill. I learned a lot and laughed a lot, and came away with so many new ideas for how to fix the issues in my current WIP that were holding me back. (Side note: my novel imploded thanks to the character motivation exercises we did one afternoon, and because of that I was forced to take a hard look at why the story wasn’t working. I used the techniques they’d taught us–and the advice in Beth’s book Paper Hearts–to rework the bulk of the plot and made it into a MUCH stronger book!)
When we arrived, Beth gave us all copies of her new writing advice book, Paper Hearts Vol. One. I had already pre-ordered it from Malaprop’s, which left me with an extra copy! So, I’m giving away the signed pre-ordered copy and the additional writing advice booklet from some amazing YA authors. Believe me writers, you want this book. Not only is it so damn helpful, but it’s a seriously fun read.

It’s all about debut releases for friends lately in my world! And I am thrilled to help my friend Kim Liggett celebrate the release of her YA romantic horror (or hor-mance as she calls it!), Blood And Salt. I heard Kim read just the first paragraph at our Djerassi retreat more than two years ago and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Luckily I was able to read an advanced copy and the whole thing is just as gorgeous and eerie as the beginning. But before we get to the giveaway entry, here’s a little about the book:
Romeo and Juliet meets Children of the Corn in this one-of-a-kind romantic horror.
“When you fall in love, you will carve out your heart and throw it into the deepest ocean. You will be all in—blood and salt.”
These are the last words Ash Larkin hears before her mother returns to the spiritual commune she escaped long ago. But when Ash follows her to Quivira, Kansas, something sinister and ancient waits among the rustling cornstalks of this village lost to time.
Ash is plagued by memories of her ancestor, Katia, which harken back to the town’s history of unrequited love and murder, alchemy and immortality. Charming traditions soon give way to a string of gruesome deaths, and Ash feels drawn to Dane, a forbidden boy with secrets of his own.
As the community prepares for a ceremony five hundred years in the making, Ash must fight not only to save her mother, but herself—and discover the truth about Quivira before it’s too late. Before she’s all in—blood and salt.
This book, y’all. It’s so deliciously creepy and swoony. Now, go enter the Rafflecopter giveaway!
I’ve got another giveaway for you, this time from my amazingly talented friend and editor-sister Anna-Marie McLemore. I’m giving away a signed copy of THE WEIGHT OF FEATHERS (which comes out on Sept. 15!) and a fun mermaid necklace. This book is a stunning YA magical realism novel that has rightfully taken its place as one of my favorite books of the year. Before we get to the giveaway entry, here’s a little about the book:
For twenty years, the Palomas and the Corbeaus have been rivals and enemies, locked in an escalating feud for over a generation. Both families make their living as traveling performers in competing shows—the Palomas swimming in mermaid exhibitions, the Corbeaus, former tightrope walkers, performing in the tallest trees they can find.
Lace Paloma may be new to her family’s show, but she knows as well as anyone that the Corbeaus are pure magia negra, black magic from the devil himself. Simply touching one could mean death, and she’s been taught from birth to keep away. But when disaster strikes the small town where both families are performing, it’s a Corbeau boy, Cluck, who saves Lace’s life. And his touch immerses her in the world of the Corbeaus, where falling for him could turn his own family against him, and one misstep can be just as dangerous on the ground as it is in the trees.
Beautifully written, and richly imaginative, The Weight of Feathers is an utterly captivating young adult novel by a talented new voice.
I promise you that you NEED this book in your life. Now, go enter the Rafflecopter giveaway!
